Launch event for the Journal of AI Law and Regulation (AIRe)

April 11, 2024

The Future Society is proudly partnering with Lexxion Publisher for the launch of The Journal of AI Law and Regulation (AIRe). This new journal will report on key legislative developments in the governance of artificial intelligence (AI) in jurisdictions around the world, providing an impartial platform for discussing the role of law and regulation in managing the challenges and opportunities of AI’s impact on society.

Keynote speech: Dan Nechita, Head of Cabinet for Dragoș Tudorache, MEP (Renew Europe), AI Act Rapporteur.

Panelists:

  • Dr Tatjana Evas, Legal and Policy Officer, European Commission (DG CNECT), AI Policy Development and Coordination Unit
  • Cornelia Kutterer, Managing Director Considerati & Senior Research Fellow at the Multidisciplinary Institute in Artificial Intelligence (Chair of AI Regulation), University of Grenoble-Alpes
  • Boniface de Champris, Senior Policy Manager, Computer & Communications Industry Association
  • Toni Lorente, Senior Associate, AI Governance, The Future Society

AIRe covers diverse fields of law affected by AI, such as privacy and data protection, intellectual property, anti-discrimination law, human rights, and consumer protection law, as well as sectoral legal developments, such as those in healthcare, financial services, transport, and agriculture. The journal also analyzes important judgments that shape the field of AI law and regulation, in particular those by the international courts and tribunals, regional courts (e.g. European Courts), and higher national courts. AIRe is peer-reviewed, published quarterly, and is available in print and online.

Given AIRe’s important contribution to scholarship in this area and with an esteemed international editorial board, The Future Society is delighted that Senior Associate, Toni Lorente, is one of the first contributing authors to AIRe with his paper titled “Institutional Review Boards as Soft Governance Mechanisms of R&D: Governing the R&D of AI-based Medical Products.” Toni will be joining the launch event’s panel discussion on 11 April 2024.

Please do join us, our friends from Lexxion Publisher, and the Brussels community to celebrate the launch of AIRe and a new era for AI governance.
